Publication Ethics and Misconducts

Jurnal Bisnis dan Kewirausahaan is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. The journal adheres to internationally recognized ethical guidelines, including those established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to comply with these ethical standards.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts should be published based on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Fair Evaluation
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on intellectual content without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.

Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and relevant editorial personnel.

Conflict of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author’s written consent.

Handling Ethical Issues
Editors will take appropriate measures to investigate and respond to ethical complaints, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, and other forms of misconduct.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making publication decisions and supports authors in improving their manuscripts.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without authorization.

Objectivity and Constructive Feedback
Reviews must be conducted objectively, and comments should be supported by clear and constructive academic arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or personal relationships.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Reporting Standards
Authors must present an accurate and objective account of the research conducted, including sufficient detail to allow replication.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is original and properly cite the work of others. Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical behavior.

Duplicate Submission
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is strictly prohibited.

Authorship Criteria
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research. All contributors must be appropriately acknowledged.

Data Transparency and Retention
Authors may be required to provide raw data for editorial review and should retain data for a reasonable period after publication.

Human and Animal Subjects
Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional regulations. Ethical approval and informed consent must be provided when applicable.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research results.

Correction of Errors
Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the editor if a significant error is identified in their published work and cooperating in issuing corrections or retractions.

4. Publication Misconduct

The journal considers the following actions as serious ethical violations:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Improper authorship attribution
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

In cases of suspected misconduct, the editorial team will conduct an investigation and may take appropriate actions, including manuscript rejection, article retraction, or notification to the author’s institution.

5. Editorial Diversity Policy

To promote academic diversity and prevent institutional dominance, Jurnal Bisnis dan Kewirausahaan applies a “one-affiliation per volume” policy. Within a single volume, only one manuscript from the same institutional affiliation may be accepted. This policy aims to ensure broader institutional representation and encourage wider academic participation.

Submissions from the same institution may be considered for subsequent volumes based on editorial evaluation and publication capacity.
